Rethink restoration
We believe beautiful, high-performance cars belong on the road.
Our restomods seamlessly blend vintage looks with modern performance and instrumentation to create something unique: an icon built to be driven.
Getting started
The first step of your Porsche restomod is a full teardown and evaluation, which involves recording the condition of every part, down to the smallest nuts and bolts. Next, we organize the car’s various pieces into groups and begin the process of cleaning, reconditioning and/or replacing parts, section by section.
Exterior
It’s like a shiny jigsaw puzzle
After the initial teardown, your car’s body panels and exterior accessories are individually cleaned and stripped to remove all existing surface layers, buffed and blasted to create a cosmetically flawless foundation and then put through a multi-stage painting process that includes electrophoretic coating to protect against corrosion.
Between the cleaning, reconditioning, painting and drying stages, the full exterior restomod process can take up to six weeks to complete, but the results are astounding.
While the body panels are undergoing transformation, we clean and align your chassis, rehab or replace your wheels and lights and prepare the full frame to be used for engine testing in the roller phase.
Under the hood
Brain surgery for cars
While the exterior parts of your car are being cleaned and painted, we begin the most involved part of the restomod process: a full engine rebuild.
Every part of your Porsche’s transmission, drivetrain and suspension are individually cleaned, electroplated where appropriate and tested for functionality and durability. We do our absolute best to keep as many of your original parts intact as possible, and we replace those that aren’t salvageable with refurbished “new” old stock to maintain performance continuity.
While cleaning and repairing existing parts, we prepare any mods or updates you requested for installation.
Details in the details
After thoroughly cleaning and replacing every part, we begin our detailed screening process. Each component of your engine, transmission and suspension is individually bench-tested and then installed in your freshly cleaned and aligned chassis.
Rolling it all up
Once we’re finished bench-testing and installing your core, your Porsche will basically look like a barebones race car. Now it’s time to drive test, which is one of our favorite things to do!
We hook your car up on our rolling road dyno and give it a full workout without ever leaving the garage. Before outfitting your interior or reattaching your body panels, we analyze the power and torque data we collect during the roller testing phase to make any final adjustments.
Once we’ve completed all tweaks under the hood, we reattach your body panels and exterior accessories.
Interior
The icing on the cake
At this point, your Porsche runs like a dream and looks like a dream, so the next step is to make it feel like a dream.
We start by installing the upholstery and trim options you picked out during the check-in process, which includes wrapping your seats individually before bolting them into the frame. We carefully position your preferred instrumentation and electronic system into your dash, seamlessly and securely blending new tech with vintage-inspired mounts. Once we’ve tested your interior systems, the final touch is installing brand new glass for all of your windows, including front and rear windshields.
Testing. Testing.
Once the vehicle has been fully reassembled and passed each round of shop-testing, we perform road-testing to ensure everything is spot on. Once we’ve seen that every. single. detail. meets our satisfaction, we then prep the car for delivery.
IT’S ALL GOOD UNDER THE HOOD
At our heart of hearts, we’re gearheads. Plain and simple. We get excited about pushing engines to their potential, and we take maintenance very seriously. So, in addition to our Porsche restomod service, we also offer standalone engine reconditioning.
Though we can soup up just about anything on four wheels, PWR specializes in air-cooled 911 and 356 models manufactured from 1978-89. We do all custom work in house and put every engine through rigorous testing with our onsite dyno.
MODIFICATION
Yes, no matter how great your engine is, PWR can make it faster, stronger, better. Whether you want to tweak the performance of your naturally aspirated engine or turbo-charge it into next week, we’ve got you covered.
Some of our most popular mods are air intake and exhaust upgrades, as well as custom-bore pistons, manifolds and cams.
REBUILD
Do you have something resembling a Porsche engine that’s currently serving as a paperweight? Bring it here. We can help. There’s nothing we love more than returning battered beauties to their former glory.
